Elmer Stanley Knutson (October 30, 1914 β August 9, 2001) was a Canadian businessman, activist and “fringe” politician. Knutson was a strong supporter of creating an independent western Canada, in which the west would become sovereign from Canada’s federal government. He has been credited with “whip[ping] Western alienation into a political movement.”
He understood that Canada did not have a constitution and that the people of the provinces needed to educate themselves of Canadas history. From there, begin the confederation process if the people so desired for that to happen.
He wrote a book that we have made available here for download… it’s called A Confederation or Western Independence.
Here is an ageless video of Elmer on Webster!, hosted by Jack Webster who, instead of investigating Elmerβs claims (as a journalist should), appears to attack him at times.
